Welcome to our little corner of the swamp! OSA is a small-scale apiary, located at the edge of the Congaree National Park (CNP), the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southeastern United States. We produce both extracted honey and cut comb products. Our happy Italian honeybees forage primarily in the cypress swamps of CNP and the surrounding area.

We have recently begun to dabble in queen bee rearing and also offer educational workshops and community presentations for those interested in getting started with beekeeping.

It is said that if you ask ten beekeepers the same question, you will likely get ten different answers. We at OSA take a relaxed and experimental approach to beekeeping and believe in the creative power of trial and error. While we love producing honey, we care first and foremost about the health and wellness of our hives. We, therefore, harvest judiciously, taking special care to leave ample honey stores for the hardworking winged ladies who worked so hard to produce it.

We hope you enjoy poking around our site–we will be updating regularly and expanding our educational offerings. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions–if we don’t know the answer, we’ll do our best to direct you to someone who does!
